Hello readers! You have inspired me to work on the third edition of my “What to expect from your art history course” guide during winter break. I am currently brainstorming and outlining content for it. If you have taken art history courses, I would love your help! What I’d like to hear from you is:
- What do you wish you knew about art history courses before you started your studies?
- What do (or did) you find most difficult about art history coursework that you think should be explained to new students?
The third edition will update and expand the existing guide and will contain printable reference sheets, checklists, and worksheets to help art history students study for exams, write essays, and conduct research. Some of this will be newly developed and some will be incorporated from handouts I have made for my own students. I know what areas my students, all of whom are taking my class as GE or transfer, struggle with the most, but I would also appreciate the perspective of art history majors/minors and professors.
